Transportation

In our institute we have number of buses ready to pick up students every morning from their homes

and driving them back at the end of the day.

We have a very organized pick up / drop down plan for Lebanese and Syrian students.

Our educational goals aim to develop, empower all beneficiaries to achieve educational integration through the academic specialized program and to train on a specific career in the vocational program.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Sensory :

Developing language abilities and skills in addition to enhancing articulation of letters.

Differentiating his/her body parts and use them properly.

Enhancing the students’ movement abilities.

 

Mental :

Acquiring learning abilities by using new techniques.

Acquiring the ability to think and analyze in order to solve problems.

Acquiring and developing audible and visual comprehension abilities.

Acquiring and developing audible and visual memory abilities.

 

 

Social Abilities :

Acquiring new information offered by the educational program.

On the basis of the general goals of the institute that consists, in the first place, of the Distinction of the educational quality, the institute offers many services that are distributed among the departments and sections.

Necessary Adaptation:

The adaptation includes many sides such as the necessary architecture for all kind of people with special needs, in addition to educational programs followed by the institute, educational tools and materials that help the student to fulfill his/her needs and develop his/her self‐independence skills.

The powerful communication and coordination among all departments and sections of the institute, such as educational, therapeutic, health and activities, are one of the success secrets that cannot be completed without counting on parents and coordinate with them continuously.

Vocational Program

The vocational department is responsible to train potential students who are able to learn a craft, agriculture, administrative, graphic design and hospitality careers. This depends on investing students’ abilities and capacities in addition to raising awareness level regarding these abilities and capacities. We work on developing these abilities and aim at enhancing personal characteristics of the students so that they become efficient members in life and society. In addition, we develop psychological and social backgrounds of students in order to enhance their performance.

The Administration of the Vocational Department, like many other Departments, looks forward to build self‐confidence among students in addition to self‐respect and productivity.

Every year, the department organizes exhibitions inside and outside the institute in addition to its annual exhibition.

Rahma for special needs works and encourages on functional and social integration for students and provide them the self-confidence and independence in the community.

Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy aims to improve and support the motor development of students. The physiotherapist assesses the level of motor development, balance and muscular neural co‐ordination, and then develops and implements the training exercises that the student needs at each age, selecting the auxiliary devices he needs, and helping the student to adapt to his disability, giving him sensory and motor experience, To reach a more natural type of movement through daily training.

Physiotherapy also helps to learn the best ways to move and balance the body, and then help the child to stand and walk the natural or using prosthetic aids.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps people achieve an optimal level of independence in their daily life through exercises and therapeutic activities.

The therapist assesses the patient and intervenes accordingly to enhance or preserve his physical, cognitive, sensory, and social abilities.

Our Occupational therapist also works on patient rehabilitation and offers personalized solutions to improve his quality of life. This is done by providing technical aids and customizing the patient’s environment so it becomes more adequate to his needs.

The sessions can either be held individually or in groups.

We strive to offer the best therapy to ameliorate:

  • Gross motor skills: static and dynamic balance, spatial body orientation.
  • Fine motor skills: Finger movement coordination, object manipulation, bilateral coordination.
  • Cognitive skills: attention, concentration and information storage.
  • Sensory skills: accepting new textures, body awareness, and stimulation of the 7 senses.
  • Writing and pre-writing skills: hand preference, pen handling.

Our therapist used to help people, of any age, who show one of the following symptoms:

  • Developmental psychomotor delay
  • Mental health or behavioral problems
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Genetic disorders
  • Traumatic injuries (brain or spinal cord)
  • Birth injuries or birth defects
  • ADHD
  • Sensory processing disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism/ pervasive developmental disorders

Our occupational therapists work closely with each patient, their healthcare team, family members and appropriate community resources. Generally, early intervention leads to the most effective outcome.

Occupational therapy requires a referral from a physician. To learn more about our services or to obtain a referral contact the Rehabilitation Services Department.

Orthophony / Speech Therapy

We provide management of speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders to inpatients and outpatients with an aim to maximize their communication and swallowing abilities and improve their quality of life. Through individual therapy and group therapy, speech therapists provide assessment and treatment to patients with the following problems:

 

 

  • Adult and pediatric swallowing disorders
  • Neurogenic communication disorders: aphasia, dysarthria, dyspraxia and cognitive communication disorder
  • Laryngectomy or tracheotomy
  • Speech disorders secondary to head and neck surgery or radiotherapy
  • Voice disorders
  • Hearing disorders and cochlear implant
  • Stuttering
  • Pediatric speech and language delay or disorders

Psychotherapy

In our department, we provide psychological assessment and consultation services add to that :
– Psychological Diagnosis, behavioral and emotional disorders in accordance with diagnostic criteria and develop a treatment plan accordingly.

– Provide therapeutic sessions to children individually or in group using various evidence-based modalities

-Monitor children progress through regular meetings and checkups Work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside teachers, social workers, education professionals, physical, speech and occupational therapists

-Maintain an open line of communication with the children and their family members in order to efficiently achieve the objectives

Activities

The Activity Department in RSN is independent and complements the rest of the Institute’s departments. It has a clear view and full awareness for the importance of building students’ self confidence in addition to the importance of enhancing their capacities in order to integrate students with special needs within society as an effective member of it.

Considering the importance of activities in enhancing capacities, the Activity Department follows‐up and create new and efficient activities in addition to all available means in order to reach this goal.

 

 

 

RSTP

the aim of this program is to encourage our students to develop all of their talents in addition to their academic abilities.

 

 

Sports

includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to students.

 

 

 

Scout

The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of our students so that they take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as a member of their local, national and international communities.

 

 

Art

Our Institute uses a variety of teaching and learning styles in art lessons. Our principal aim is to develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding that art encourages children to evaluate their own ideas and methods.

 

 

Theatre

To develop students who are sensitive and articulate physical and verbal communicators of the visual art of theatre who are proficient in the analysis of theatre in its cultural manifestations, leading them beyond knowledge of a culture to an understanding and celebration of difference.

Robotics

Social Support

Health & Social Department is able to follow up the progress of all cases in the center, additional to provide social engagement plans, organize social events, Child protection and Gender based violence awareness, Referral Facilitation process, additional to the direct follow up and coordination with the beneficiaries parents, MOSA, local and international NGOs.

Housing

The Internal Department staff consists of experienced specialists in care giving such as the responsible, licensed nurses and supervisors from both gender.

‐ The Internal Department welcomes a number of students registered in the Ministry of Social Affairs. The department contains around 60 cases of different disabilities (motor, mental, Cerebral Palsy), It takes care of children with special needs including educational services (in the institute) and rehabilitation (physical and Psychological Therapy, speech therapy, sensory and motor therapy).
